Tractor Driver

Pemandu Traktor (Ladang)

"This mechanized agricultural sector focuses on transporting heavy crop yields, navigating extreme off-road terrain, and distributing bulk fertilizers."

The Career Story

Tractor Drivers are the heavy logistics backbone of the plantation. They pilot rugged agricultural machinery across deep mud, steep terraces, and unpaved estate roads to transport harvested fruit to the main collection points and distribute massive loads of fertilizer.

Without Tractor Drivers, the harvest rots in the field. Every day, the driver hitches a heavy steel trailer to their tractor and navigates deep into the estate blocks. The terrain is brutal, often consisting of deep muddy ruts, steep hills, and slippery clay, especially during the monsoon season. The driver stops at intervals while the harvesters and pickers load tons of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) into the trailer.

Once full, the driver must carefully extract the heavy, unstable load out of the rough terrain and haul it to the main estate weighbridge or direct to the mill. Beyond harvesting, Tractor Drivers attach different implements (like spreaders or sprayers) to distribute tons of fertilizer across the estate.

The job requires excellent heavy machinery skills and mechanical sympathy. Drivers must know how to engage differential locks to escape deep mud without snapping the vehicle's axles. It is a highly independent, physically jarring, and noisy job, but skilled drivers who can move massive tonnage safely command high piece-rate bonuses and absolute job security.
