Logging Operations Manager

Managing a logging concession is one of the most rugged, high-stakes logistics jobs in the world. A Logging Manager lives in a base camp deep in the forest (often in Sabah, Sarawak, or Pahang) for weeks at a time. They manage an army of chainsaw operators, bulldozer drivers, and truck drivers.

Their primary job is to extract timber efficiently while strictly following Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) laws. They must ensure workers only cut specific, marked trees and do not destroy the surrounding environment or pollute local rivers. They plan the construction of temporary logging roads through treacherous mud and mountains.

Safety is a massive concern; logging is highly dangerous, and the manager is responsible for emergency medivacs if a tree falls on a worker. Because the work is grueling, isolated, and requires tough leadership to manage rough crews, experienced camp managers are paid exceptionally high salaries by timber tycoons.
