CCTV Operator

Operator CCTV / Pegawai Pengawasan

"A monitoring and observation role focused on operating closed-circuit television systems to detect suspicious activity, prevent crime, and ensure building safety."

The Career Story

A CCTV Operator sits in a secure control room, watching multiple camera feeds simultaneously to spot shoplifters, track unauthorized access, and guide ground security guards via radio.

The CCTV Operator is the "eye in the sky" for commercial and public security. Employed in shopping malls, casinos, traffic control centers, and large residential complexes, they are responsible for monitoring vast networks of cameras.

Daily work requires intense, prolonged focus. An operator sits in a darkened room facing banks of monitors. They actively scan for anomalies: a person loitering near an ATM, a vehicle parked in a fire lane, or a shoplifter slipping items into a bag. When an incident occurs, the operator uses PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) controls to track the suspect while simultaneously using a radio to direct physical security guards to the exact location to intercept them.

While AI video analytics (which can automatically flag unattended bags or recognize license plates) are heavily augmenting this role, human operators are still needed to verify AI alerts, predict human behavior, and manage the live radio coordination with ground teams. It is a highly introverted, sedentary role.
