Weighbridge Clerk

Whether it is a lorry full of palm oil fruit, a dump truck carrying raw cement, or a container truck at a port, bulk goods are sold by weight. The Weighbridge Clerk sits in a small cabin at the entrance of industrial sites, directing heavy vehicles onto massive platform scales. They capture the loaded weight (gross), and once the truck has emptied its cargo, they weigh it again (tare). The difference is the actual product weight.

This role involves strict, repetitive data entry. Clerks must verify driver documentation, issue delivery orders (DO) or weighbridge tickets, and ensure the data syncs correctly with the company's central ERP software. They also play a crucial regulatory role, ensuring trucks are not overloaded before hitting public roads, which could result in massive fines from the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

While modern weighbridges are becoming increasingly automated with RFID tags and automatic license plate recognition, a human clerk is still widely required to handle driver disputes, verify anomalous readings, and process physical paperwork in less digitized sectors like agriculture and scrap metal.
