Special Branch Officer

If the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) solves a murder after it happens, the Special Branch (Cawangan Khas / SB) ensures the murder never happens in the first place. They are the supreme intelligence agency of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). An SB officer's life is defined by absolute secrecy; their own families often do not know exactly what they do for a living.

An SB officer does not kick down doors; they are the ghosts in the room. They spend years building deep undercover personas. They infiltrate extreme religious terror cells, massive human trafficking syndicates, or radical political factions. Their primary weapon is not a gun; it is human psychology. They identify weak links within a criminal organization and manipulate them into becoming secret informants, paying them for intel.

In the modern era, much of their work has shifted to OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) and cyber-espionage. They monitor the dark web, tracking the cryptocurrency funding of terrorists, and intercepting encrypted communications. Once they gather enough actionable intelligence, they hand the target over to the heavily armed tactical units (like UTK) to execute the raid.

AI is heavily used in the SB to scan billions of phone calls and facial recognition databases. However, AI cannot sit in a smoky coffee shop, look a cartel boss in the eye, lie flawlessly about who they are, and convince the boss to trust them. The sheer psychological terror and extreme human intelligence required make the SB operator irreplaceable.
