Their work is heavily seasonal, often requiring immense effort during short, critical harvest windows before crops spoil.

The job requires deep physical stamina, a tolerance for outdoor weather, and a gentle touch. Picking a delicate strawberry or a ripe mango requires a level of tactile precision that robotic arms still struggle to execute rapidly without bruising the fruit. While automated combine harvesters have taken over grain and corn, the manual harvesting of delicate fruits and vegetables remains highly dependent on human labor, making this an accessible, nature-bound career.
