Fish Farm Worker

Aquaculture is an incredibly delicate balancing act. Unlike land animals, you cannot easily see if a fish is sick. Therefore, a Fish Pond Worker's primary job is managing water quality. They must constantly test the water for pH levels, ammonia, and dissolved oxygen. If an aerator pump breaks down in the middle of the night, thousands of fish can suffocate within hours, requiring workers to be on-call for emergencies.

The daily physical work involves hauling heavy sacks of specialized fish feed and broadcasting it evenly across the ponds. They must also perform heavy, wet labor: dragging massive harvest nets through the mud, grading fish by size, and packing them in ice for morning market transport.

Shrimp farming is particularly intense, requiring extreme cleanliness and biosecurity to prevent farm-wiping viruses. It is a wet, muddy, and sun-baked profession, but as wild ocean fish stocks collapse, commercial aquaculture is rapidly becoming one of the most vital and lucrative food sectors globally.
