As the 60 day deadline approaches, they proactively contact the supermarket finance department to ensure payment is coming. If a major corporate client starts delaying payments, the Controller must diplomatically apply pressure, halting future deliveries without permanently destroying the business relationship.

The sales team will often fight the Credit Controller, wanting to sell to everyone to hit targets, while the Controller must remain the strict voice of financial safety.
