Career Consultant

Perunding Kerjaya

"This professional coaching and HR sector focuses on helping individuals optimize their resumes, prepare for interviews, and navigate complex career transitions."

The Career Story

Career Consultants are the personal trainers for your professional life. To strictly differentiate: The Recruiter works for the company to find an employee. The Therapist works on your mental health. The Career Consultant is hired directly by the job-seeker to fix their terrible resume, teach them how to negotiate salary, and help them figure out what to do with their life.

The modern job market is brutal. Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) automatically reject resumes, and interviews are highly competitive. A Career Consultant helps people beat this system. They work with a wide range of clients: confused fresh graduates, mothers returning to the workforce, or mid-level managers wanting to pivot into tech.

Much of their work is tactical: rewriting resumes to include the right keywords, optimizing LinkedIn profiles so headhunters find the client, and conducting mock interviews to fix nervous body language.

However, a large part of the job is psychological coaching. Clients are often depressed, rejected, or lost. The consultant must act as an empathetic listener, using personality assessments and deep questioning to help the client discover their true strengths and build the confidence to demand higher salaries. It is highly rewarding work for empathetic people with strong corporate backgrounds.
